A gadget freak !! Who me ?
Yes. I'm proud to be a gadget freak. One of those groups of enthusiasts, who decide the fate of new technologies. Also called as 'early adaptor's. Well this early adoption is mostly limited to technologies (read gadgets).
I'm mad about anything new, anything digital, anything geeky. The list is big... digital cameras, extreme computing, PC cooling, CPU over-clocking, ITX motherboards, car PC's, USB gadgets, super watches, pda's, and more...
Will write about them in detail later...

Google Chat
Google changed the way the world communicates, yet once again!! They have brought out the brand new Google Talk. With a small foot print of 900K, its a dream come true. Text chat, voice chat, email chat and more. Although still in beta stage (gmail.com had been in beta since a long time now), it beats the existing players like Yahoo and MSN straight in the face.
A must try, I say.

Attrition, Have I become a part of it ?
I was running a small business of IT hardware sales and services. I used to employ students, fresh out of college, without any hands on experience. They were cheap to employ, eager to learn, hence hard working too. I used to teach them the secrets of my trade... mentor them. But soon, most would be gone… either gone to join other better paying entrepreneurs, or to become entrepreneurs of their own, or join bigger businesses. I had seen attrition in the face.
Now many years later, I work full time as an employee in a startup (bigger and better run than mine). And down the line, i sometimes get similar thoughts... Should I be changing jobs for better pay? Should I return back to being an entrepreneur again? Well, the first choice would be attrition from my employer’s point of view. What would the second be...?

About mail forwards
Cute puppies, nice looking roses, funny jokes, greetings.... the list is endless. This and more is what most of us get to see in our email inbox's.. You will say spam !! But it's not spam, the mails are from people we know..friends, colleagues, relatives. Do we like them ? Yes.. sometimes. But most of the times they are a big time waster. All we will do is forward it to 'all' the people in our address book !!
But hey, I'm against this. My policy is 'If I did not ask for it, why did you send it'. How would you feel if people gave you advise all the time, without you asking for it. Offended, angry ?
Well, I now mail back people who send me forwards, asking them to 'unsubscribe' me from their mail forwarding list. And guess what, in all the cases it had worked just fine.
One more thing I recall thinking about email forwarding is the service providers who are laughing all the way to the bank. The free email service providers get to display more adds, hence more revenue. The Internet service providers get more $ due to the high volume of internet traffic. There is even a term 'holiday traffic' coined by these guys. Even the antivirus companies get to work overtime and scan all the emails and attachments. No wonder big infrastructure companies like Cisco are getting bigger..
I'm doing my bit from being conned, what about you ?
